The automated warehouse, a recently revamped area of Picchi, is the demonstration of the company’s capacity to transform limitations into opportunities. A substantial investment which has resulted in an immediate return in terms of efficiency of processes and client satisfaction.
In creating its new warehouse, in the area outside the main shed, Picchi has structured the space vertically, expanding upwards.
The archiving and sampling of warehouse components are handled intelligently through a direct, but remote, link between warehouse and production.
All parts are identified with univocal laser-marked codes on each part: this makes it easy to search for the parts, guaranteeing, at the same time, immediate traceability.
The investment in an automated warehouse has allowed Picchi to speed up the search for the most significant parts in order to guarantee a more efficient production and timely intervention in the event of faults which require spare parts: it is sufficient to enter the codes on the monitor to launch the automated system responsible for picking up the required components and delivering them to the operators directly onto the trolley.
The intelligent management of this operational part can reduce delivery times, monitor stocks of components available in the warehouse and obtain greater efficiency of processes, thanks to the reduction of errors guaranteed by the fact that part of the work is carried out by a machine.
Finally, it should be remembered that thanks to its internal mechanical processing department equipped with 5-axes machining centres, Picchi guarantees immediate intervention, availability, guarantee and assistance on the machines produced since 1958, both for mechanical and electronic parts, including motors. The greater availability of warehouse space and the optimisation of processes will allow Picchi to continue to supply this service to its own clients.
